What Is Wrong Today
- There is no plan for success; the hospital has had the sole focus of selling its assets to Insight, an entity seemingly marketing itself as a charity (non-profit) but is really appears to be a private equity firm that will suck all the capital out of Hazel Hawkins Hospital to send to their corporation in Michigan
- 57% of residents take their health care out-of-county because they do not trust Hazel Hawkins Hospital
- The Board Reports to the Administration
- Board members rarely discuss the pertinent issues
- The CEO earns a $450,000 "big city" / "big hospital" salary with a golden parachute, but has no relevant experience and lives in small San Benito County and complains on TV how hard it is to run Hazel Hawkins Hospital
- There is no "CEO Report" that reflects what is being accomplished and how performance is against plans
- There is a lot of self-dealing
- The hospital is very secretive
- The administration and board "cancel" anyone who correctly criticizes them and anyone who associates with them. This includes everything from disallowing otherwise legal public comment and firing top-notch physicians. They will most likely continue try to cancel me for being critical of them and running for a board seat.
My Plan
Plan for Success
- Determine what services a population of 70,000 typically needs and wants and staff and facilitize to meet them
- Clean up the hospital rooms (paint, wash windows, have greenery outside patient rooms).
- Require the CEO to develop a business plan that reflects more of our population utilizing their private insurance at Hazel Hawkins Hospital and then report each month on progress
- Board members oversee the administration and hold them accountable
- Board members not allowed to sell services to the hospital
- Full transparency.
